Elias, an ambitious antiquarian, seeks the Codex Tenebris, a forbidden grimoire, within the ancient and forbidding Castle Obsidion. He is driven by a hunger for immortality, but faces not the traditional vampire lore, but an ancient, malignant entity born of the castle itself. Driven mad by glimpses of this being and the secrets of the Codex, Elias flees, leaving Corvus, the last heir of the castle's dark lineage, to watch the cycle of obsession and darkness continue. The horror lies not in blood-sucking vampires, but in the ever-present darkness and the ancient entity that binds it to the castle.
